Baga

Who is Baga?

Baga’s House is named in honor of my grandmother, Baga—the woman who helped raise generations of strong go-getters, and who filled our lives with warmth, kindness, and unwavering support. Though it has been nearly 25 years since she passed, her influence remains with me every single day. The love she gave and the lessons she taught continue to guide my actions and inspire the work we do here at Baga’s House.

A Foundation of Kindness

Baga was, above all else, kind. She treated everyone with a gentle touch and a genuine smile, even in the toughest of times. She made everyone who came into her home feel welcome and cared for, no matter what they were going through. Her kindness wasn’t just in words; it was in the meals she cooked, the time she spent listening, and the countless small gestures that made our house a home. That kindness forms the very foundation of what we aim to do at Baga’s House—create a space where young people feel valued, supported, and loved.

A Guiding Hand

Baga had a way of guiding us without ever pushing too hard. She was patient and knew how to make each of us feel like we mattered. She was the gentle force behind our first steps and our first successes, always there to celebrate the little victories and console us when things went wrong. It’s her quiet strength that inspires the mentorship and community support we offer here. We want every young person who walks through our doors to know that they matter and that there is someone who believes in them, just as Baga believed in us.

A Legacy of Resilience

Baga lived through difficult times, yet she faced each challenge with resilience and grace. She taught us that strength comes from love, patience, and perseverance. She showed me that no matter the obstacles, we can move forward, build something good, and lift others along the way. This belief is at the heart of Baga’s House. We work to help young people find that strength within themselves, to take control of their lives, and to move toward a future full of promise.

A Deeply Missed Presence

It has been almost 25 years since she left us, but the ache of her absence never fades. I miss her deeply—the sound of her voice, her gentle laughter, and the way she could make everything feel alright. I carry her memory with me every day, and it is her spirit that fuels this work. The programs we offer, the mentorship we provide, and the community we build are all rooted in the lessons she taught me.

Baga’s House: Continuing Her Legacy

Baga’s House is more than a name. It’s a tribute to a woman who showed us the value of kindness, patience, and resilience. It’s a way of continuing her legacy, by offering people the kind of support that Baga gave so freely. We are here to create a space where everyone feels safe, valued, and capable of great things—a place where young people can find their way, just as Baga helped me find mine.

This organization, and everything it stands for, is dedicated to her memory. It’s about building something good, together. It’s about helping people take their first steps toward a brighter future, with a guiding hand beside them. It’s about love, patience, and the belief that everyone has potential worth nurturing—just as Baga believed in me.
